The Lexington High School volleyball team opened defense Tuesday of its Region 5-5A title with a 3-set win over White Knoll. 

The scores were 25-17, 25-20 and 25-19.

TUESDAY PREP SPORTS - Lexington wins region volleyball opener

The Lexington High School volleyball team opened defense Tuesday of its Region 5-5A title with a 3-set win over White Knoll. 

The scores were 25-17, 25-20 and 25-19.

Phoebe Perkins had 12 Kills, 3 digs, 1 block and 1 ace. Madison Jacoby finished with 9 kills, 13 digs and 5 aces and Jessica Blackburn had 5 aces and 7 digs.

The Lady Wildcats travel to Charleston Tuesday for a tri-match against Porter Gaud and Ashley Hall. Their next home match is Sept. 26 versus Chapin, which travels to White Knoll Thursday 

Northside Christian wins

Northside Christian Academy defeated Calhoun Academy in 3 sets (25-16, 25-13, 25-17) to improve to 5-7 overall, 2-0 in region play. 

Liz Berrens had 5 kills and a block in the 1st set.  

The Lady Crusaders travel to Palmetto Christian Academy Thursday.

GOLF

Lady Wildcats win

Fort D Invitational

The 3-time defending Class 5A champion Lexington girls’ golf team won the Fort Dorchester Invitational that concluded Tuesday. 

Karlee Vardas led the Lady Wildcats by shooting 69-69 for a 6-under-par 138 total to win by 3 shots over teammate Molly Hardwick, who shot 70-71 for a 3-under-par total of 141.  Emily Beiers finished in 12th place with her score of 161. 

The Lady Wildcats return to the links Monday at Woodside Plantation in the Lady Thoroughbred Invitational.

 

Gilbert ties for 2nd

The Gilbert girls’ golf team shot a team score of 337 to finish 1 stroke behind Daniel and tied with Chesnee for 2nd place at the Greenwood Lady Eagle Invitational Monday.

Kennedy Gooding was 3rd overall with a 3-over-par 75. 

River Bluff placed 8th with a score of 363. Lauren Oh finished in 8th place individually in the field. Sydney WIlson finished 13th overall.
