WEDNESDAY'S PREP SPORTS - Lexington boys win Pelican SnoBalls Invitational

Lexington High School's cross-country boys team and Ava Grace Fowler took top honors at the Pelican SnoBalls Invitational it held Wednesday.
Fowler placed first in the girls 5-K run and was the lone Lady Wildcat in the Top 10 standings. Porter-Gaud finished first as a team, followed by Dutch Fork and Lexington. 
The Lexington boys finished first out of 15 teams from the Midlands and Lowcountry. Zander Jeffcoat led the Wildcats with a second-place finish, followed by William Johnson (3rd), Heath McDonald (11th) and Trey Burns (13th). Alan Degracias of Blythewood won the event.

Senior Maggie Salley led the offense with 10 kills and 4 aces.  Rae Stackley also had 6 kills and an ace for the Lady Wildcats (14-4, 1-0). 


Gilbert 3, Pelion 0 (25-9, 25-11, 25-17)
Hannah McDowell had 4 aces, 33 assists and 4 kills, Kailey Lastinger had four ace serves, Courtney Price had 10 kills and Chidera Wilson finished with 9 kills for the Lady Indians (9-1, 2-0).

The Lady Gators (14-5-1, 1-0) won its Region 5-5A opener. 


SWIMMING
River Bluff teams
remain perfect 

The River Bluff swim teams remained undefeated after sweeping the tri-meet on Sept. 19 against Region 5-5A rivals Dutch Fork and Lexington. 
The Lady Gators defeated Dutch Fork 152-134 and Lexington 176-119. The boys won its races over Dutch Fork 181-104 and Lexington 161-124.
