The White Knoll baseball team continued its winning ways to open the season Tuesday in dramatic fashion.
Dylan Johnson's walkout RBI bunt single gave the Timberwolves a 5-4 victory over Irmo for their 5th straight victory.
Fresh off winning the Red Bank Invitational, White Knoll rallied from a 4-1 deficit to tie the game in the Bottom 5th. The rally started with 2 outs as Kameron Dunlap hit an RBI double to make it 4-2.
After Dunlap scored on a error at homeplate, Reign Lybrand drove in the tying run with a single to rightfield.
In the 7th, Zane Anderson hit a leadoff single, then advanced to 2nd on Dunlap's sacrifice bunt. After Kennedy Ramsey drew a walk, Anderson stole 2nd base which allowed him to score on Johnson's bunt.
Bryce Metts picked up the win after he struck out 5 in 5 innings. Carsen Brown was credited with a save.
J.J. Bruce took the loss in relief for the Yellow Jackets, who got RBI from Chris Keaton and Julian Scott.
The 2 teams will meet again Wednesday in Irmo.
Brookland-Cayce 5, North Augusta 4
Hayden Thomas' walkoff 2-run double lifted the Bearcats to a comeback win over the Yellow Jackets in Region 5-4A play.
Trailing 4-1, Brookland-Cayce scored twice in the 6th and 7th innings for the victory.
Thomas accounted for 3 RBI, including a run-scoring single to put the Bearcats ahead 1-0 in the Bottom 3rd.
Skylar King struck out 4 in 2 scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win.
Brookland-Cayce plays host to Ben Lippen Wednesday.
Midland Valley 3, Airport 1
Despite 8 strikeouts by Parker Whittle, the Eagles fell to the Mustangs in Region 5-4A play Tuesday.
Sam LaFrage had 2 hits, including Airport's lone run on a sole homer in the Bottom 1st.
Up next is a road trip to Westwood on Thursday.
BOYS SOCCER
Dutch Fork 7, Lexington 1
Nick DeMasi had 2 goals and Jordan Johnson dished out 2 assists to lead the undefeated and nationally-ranked Silver Foxes.
Ranked 8th in the United Soccer Coaches preseason rankings, Dutch Fork (7-0-1) also had goals from Elliott Fish, Dylan Collins and Paul Jones.
The Silver Foxes return to action Tuesday at White Knoll.
River Bluff 1, Chapin 0
GIRLS SOCCER
Chapin 1, River Bluff 1 (3-2 in PKs)
The Lady Eagles improved to 3-0 in Region 5-5A after upending the defending region champion Lady Gators.
Chapin travels to Mid-Carolina Wednesday, while River Bluff visits White Knoll on Friday.
Lexington 5, Dutch Fork 0
Izzy Anderson had 2 goals and Logan Kitts had 2 assists as the Lady Wildcats won their Region 5-5A opener.
Lexington travels to Chapin Friday.
Gilbert 3, Swansea 2 (Double OT)
BOYS TENNIS
Lexington defeated White Knoll to improve to 1-0 in Region 5-5A. This comes a day after defeating A.C. Flora.
