The Attorney General’s Office announced the arrest of two Lexington County men on charges related to the sexual exploitation of minors.

John L. Rivers, 30 of North, was arrested April 3, charged with three counts of criminal solicitation of a minor (punishable by up to 10 years in prison on each count), one count of attempted criminal sexual conduct with a minor, three counts of first degree sexual exploitation of a minor (punishable by up to 20 years in prison on each count) and one county of attempted dissemination of obscene material to a person under 18 (punishable by up to 10 years in prison).

No further details about Rivers’ alleged crimes were released

The arrest was made by Lexington Police investigators with the state’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

While the Town of North is located in Orangeburg County, parts of unincorporated Lexington County list the town on their addresses.

William Frank Woods, 63 of Lexington, was arrested March 30, charged with one count of second degree sexual exploitation of a minor (punishable by up to 10 years in prison) and four counts of third degree sexual exploitation of a minor (punishable by up to 10 years in person on each count).

Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigators with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department made the arrest.

“Investigators received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children which led them to Woods,” a release notes. “Investigators state Woods distributed and possessed files of child sexual abuse material.”

Both cases are set to be prosecuted by the state Attorney General’s Office.
