Gilbert's Rory Travis makes school history with second place finish

This past weekend saw 15 Chronicle Country wrestlers earn medalist honors at the Anderson Civic Center.

There were three first-place winners in Chapin’s Preston White, Pelion’s Charlie Spires and Gilbert’s Colton Travis.

For the first time in school history at Gilbert, a female wrestler earned a medal. Rory Travis won two matches at 145 pounds before falling by decision to Bluffton’s Jada Lawrence to finish in second place.

Up next is the Best Western South Carolina North/South All-Star Wrestling Classic. Gummere, along with Gilbert's Will Stroud, Lexington's Daniel Synder and  White Knoll's Dawson Prevatte are among the participants at the event set for March 3-4 in North Myrtle Beach.

106 pounds – Preston White (first)

160 pounds – Stone Newman (second)

170 pounds – Matthew Gummere (second)

195 pounds – Toler Hornick (second)

Dutch Fork

106 pounds – Jackson Stocker (second)

Pelion

120 pounds – Charlie Spires (first)

Gilbert

126 pounds – Hayden Schroeder (second)

170 pounds – Graysen Dowden (third)

195 pounds - Colton Travis (first)

220 pounds – Ethan Gamble (third)
