Cayce to make up canceled holiday event this weekend

Posted

One of the Lexington County holiday events canceled on account of much-feared but ultimately inconsequential rain last weekend is back with a new date.

Christmas Traditions: Olde & New, the annual element of Christmas in Cayce hosted at the city's Historical Museum, will take place this Sunday, Dec. 10, from 2 to 5 p.m.

“Head over to 1800 12th Street to explore the museum’s historical attractions,” the city posted to Facebook. “The museum will be open and free to the public for all to see our exhibits and trees decorated by local community groups. Live musicians will be performing throughout the building, grounds, and Santa’s Workshop.”

There will actually be more to the event than there was supposed to be last weekend.

“We also invite you to visit our Christmas Market with local vendors and see traditional craft and living history demonstrations,” the city posted. “Come visit with Santa in his Workshop from 2:00-4:00. The museum's red caboose will be decorated for family selfies. Come join us to celebrate the Holiday Season here in Cayce!”

The addition of these happenings will make for a busy weekend in the area, as the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Holiday Parade of Lights, running along 12th Street through both cities Saturday evening. And the chamber is looking to make a full day of it.

“Join us at the North Pole from 12 to 4 p.m. to check out local businesses, enjoy family activities, shopping and more. Hop on and off the Holiday Business Shuttle as it travels around the Cayce-West Columbia community, highlighting businesses offering holiday specials, activities and more!” the chamber posted to its website.

“The Holiday Parade of Lights begins at 5:30 p.m. in Cayce and travels along 12th Street for a little over a mile, ending in West Columbia. Bleachers are available near the North Pole at the Chamber Office and we encourage you to come early, grab a bite to eat at a local restaurant and enjoy the evening in the Greater CWC!”
