Chain brunch spot opens in West Columbia apartment complex

Posted

After opening softly — and without charge — over the weekend, a new brunch spot is now officially up and running in a new anchor spot on West Columbia’s State Street.

Another Broken Egg Cafe is open at the corner of State and Meeting, giving the new 4West apartment complex its promised restaurant tenant. The building is the final phase of the Brookland mixed-use development that has transformed the city’s River District.

The chain, which now has three locations in the Columbia area, serves upscale brunch, complete with cocktails. The other local outposts are in Lexington and along Divine Street in Columbia. Another Broken Egg’s website lists six locations in the state, with the others being in Greenville, Rock Hill and Charleston. According to a release, the West Columbia location is the chain’s 92nd nationwide, with the restaurant’s website listing spots that are open or opening soon in 16 states.

The West Columbia location is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Offerings at the West Columbia location include core menu items with broad fan appeal like the Shrimp ‘N Grits, Chicken & Waffles, Lobster and Brie Omelette, Huevos Rancheros, Southern Chicken Sandwich and more. In addition, kids can enjoy classic breakfast offerings including Chocolate Chip Pancakes with whipped cream and chocolate syrup, the French Toast Sampler or the Little Rooster (scrambled egg, fresh seasonal fruit, English muffin and baked bacon),” the release states. “The new location also features an enticing and modernized environment where gourmet food and beverages – including a full bar with signature cocktails, mimosas and bloody marys – come together to create a highly memorable dining experience for all.”

On Saturday, Sept. 30, the new restaurant gave local patrons a chance to check all these specialties out and for its staff to get up to speed, as the restaurant offered meals free of charge to those who snagged a reservation, encouraging patrons to use some of their freed-up food money to donate to Columbia’s Harvest Hope Food Bank.

“We’re excited to bring Another Broken Egg Cafe to West Columbia residents and elevate their brunch experience,” Paul Macaluso, CEO and President of Another Broken Egg Cafe, is quoted. “The combination of our Southern-inspired flavors and exceptional customer experience hits home for our guests in South Carolina, so we’re expanding our reach in the state with another location.”
