The Gilbert boys' golf team won the Region 5-3A tournament Tuesday at the Ponderosa Golf Club in Batesburg-Leesville.
The Indians dominated with a score of 319, followed by Strom Thurmond (402) and Swansea (427). Blake Dimsdale earned top medalist honors with a score of 74, followed by teammates Sully Hooper (75), Joe Nix (84), Jackson Reeves (86) and Drew Albus (88).
James Pollard had the lowest score for Swansea at 99.
This marked the 6th consecutive region title for Gilbert, which will now head to Diamond Back Golf Club in Aynor to compete in the Class 3A Lower State qualifier. The state championship will take place May 13-14 at Mount Vintage Golf Club in North Augusta.

The run at the USGA Women's Amateur 4-Ball in Jacksonville, Fla. ended Tuesday for Lexington High School golfers Isabella Rawl and Karlee Vardas.
Earlier in the day, the Lady Wildcats' pair won their Round of 16 match play contest by a 2 and 1 score. In the quarterfinal against Sadie Englemann and Rachel Heck, Rawl and Vardas fell in 13 holes 6 and 5.
