Introducing the Chronicle’s all-new Athlete of the Week

Posted

As the fall sports season gets underway with football, volleyball and more, the Chronicle is re-launching an old hallmark with a new twist.

The paper will once again name a boys and girls Athlete of the Week, but we’re going to do it with your help.

With the high participation we experienced with our poll to pick the cover athlete for the High School Football Preview inserted into this week’s issue (more than 3,300 votes were cast in the contest that ultimately pushed Swansea QB Jacob Harper onto the front of the magazine), we decided to go ahead and launch the interactive version of Athlete of the Week we’ve been getting ready to go.

Each Saturday morning at 10 a.m., we’ll unveil the list of athletes that were nominated, with input from their head coaches, at lexingtonchronicle.com/athleteoftheweek. There will be two polls, one to select a male athlete and one to select a female athlete, with voting running through Monday morning at 10 a.m.

The winners will be featured in the sports section of the Chronicle each week and online at lexingtonchronicle.com.

We look forward to crowning athletes to highlight each week throughout the fall sports season and beyond and are excited to see our readers get another opportunity to participate in our product.

Lexington County Chronicle Athlete of the Week, Jacob Harper
