Lexington County School District One will offer some limited school choice opportunities during the 2027–28 school year. This limited school choice option allows Lexington One students to attend schools outside of their regular attendance area when space is available.

For the 2027–28 school year, the district will offer 10 spots at the following schools:

• Carolina Springs Elementary School

• Carolina Springs Middle School

• Forts Pond Elementary School

• Lakeside Middle School

• Lexington Elementary School

• Meadow Glen Middle School

• Pelion Elementary School

• Pelion High School

• Pelion Middle School

• Red Bank Elementary School

• Saxe Gotha Elementary School

• South Lake Elementary School

• White Knoll Elementary School

• White Knoll High School

• White Knoll Middle School

To register your child for a school choice opening, you must be a legal resident of Lexington County School District One and provide proof of residency. To apply for a limited school choice seat for your child, complete the online form before 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13.

The form is available at https://www.lexington1.net/departments/student-services/school-choice.

If the district receives more applications than the 10 available seats at any one choice school, district administrators will hold a lottery drawing for the slots at the affected school(s) on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 4 p.m. in the School Administration Conference Room of the Central Services Office located at 100 Tarrar Springs Road in Lexington. Although parents are welcome to attend, they do not need to be present at the drawing for their student(s) to be qualified for the lottery.

During the school year, students who do not meet the attendance and behavior expectations may be required to withdraw at the conclusion of the current semester. School of choice can be revoked based on the following factors:

• Lack of available capacity

• Excessive unlawful absences of more than 10 days for elementary and middle school students and more than five days for 90-day semester courses, or in excess of 10 days for 180-day courses for high school students

• Excessive tardies  to school of more than 10 per semester in the previous school year

• Student disciplinary history of a Level III disciplinary offense

• Suspensions of more than five days in the previous school year

• Expulsion recommendation in the previous school year

• Failure to meet specialized program requirements

The district cannot provide bus transportation for children attending schools outside of their regular attendance area. Parents/guardians must provide transportation for these children.
