Posted

Lexington running back Matt McAulay and Gilbert tennis’ Maggie Addy earned Athlete of the Week honors after spectacular showings.

McAulay was nominated alongside Irmo wide receiver Donovan Murph and White Knoll running back Tiyon Fanning. Addy was nominated alongside White Knoll libero Allie Royer and Lexington volleyball’s Sara Sykes.
Voting for Athlete of the Week goes from 10 a.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Monday each week.

Matt McAulay

McAulay made a big difference on the ground in Lexington’s big win over rival River Bluff. On only eight carries, McAulay ran for 101 yards and scored a touchdown to help the Wildcats erase an early 14-0 hole.
The performance pushed Lexington to 2-0 in region play and ties them for first place with White Knoll.

Maggie Addy

Addy dominated on the tennis court for Gilbert this week. In singles, she went 3-0 last week with a win against one opponent from Dreher and two wins against the same opponent from Lower Richland in straight sets.
Those three victories improved her overall record to 11-1 on the season.
