Lexington County Blowfish earn more awards after championship season

Posted

Following a season that saw the organization win its first championship since moving to Lexington County, the Blowfish earned even more awards and accolades in the off-season.

The Blowfish were named the Coastal Plain League’s Organization of the Year, and general manager Tony Baldwin was named Executive of the Year on Sept. 5.

It’s the second-straight season that the Blowfish have been named organization of the year, and it’s the first time Baldwin, who arrived in Lexington last summer, has been named the league’s top executive.

“From an organizational standpoint, Baldwin made a big impact on the Blowfish’s ticket operation, utilizing his digital marketing experience to orchestrate a sales plan throughout the year.,” a press release from the Coastal Plain League reads. “Overall, he increased group ticket sales by 190 percent from a year ago. The Blowfish also increased their Stadium Club (VIP hospitality area) bookings by 50 percent. Baldwin’s experience on digital marketing also shined through as 93.6% of the team’s new plan holders purchased through Facebook ads or links in email marketing campaigns.”

Baldwin was also applauded for the way he advanced the Blowfish’s jersey promotions like the farmer-themed jerseys for the “Hometown Home Run” promotion and the “Hooties” jerseys honoring the team’s namesake, Hootie and the Blowfish.

The Blowfish’s Organization of the Year honor comes after an increase in ticket sales, fun promotions, a championship product on the field and a successful hosting of the league’s 2023 All-Star Showcase events.

Overall, it’s the Blowfish’s fourth Organization of the Year honor and their second since relocating from Columbia to Lexington County.
