The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has identified a man who died during an incident on Ermine Road July 26.
According to a post to the office’s Facebook page, Lexington resident Philip Calvin Jackson, 45, was fatally shot on the 400 block of Ermine Road shortly after 6 p.m.
He “was pronounced dead on the scene due to multiple gunshot wounds. An autopsy has been scheduled for Saturday, July 30 at MUSC,” the post states.
In its updates about the incident posted on the evening of July 26 and the morning of July 27, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department reported that a 34-year-old woman was shot and a man was killed during the incident, which it said took place at a business on Ermine Road.
“Based on the evidence investigators have gathered, the woman was shot by a man who died at the scene,” the sheriff’s department posted. “While our work on the case continues, there is no ongoing search for other potential suspects or persons of interest related to the shooting.”
A spokesperson for the department confirmed this is still the case following the identification of Jackson and shared a redacted incident report.
According to the report, the woman told the responding officer that a man whose name is redacted shot her and then himself. EMS arrived, and the man was determined to be dead on the scene, while the woman, who was found with a wound to her abdomen, was transported to the hospital.
The report lists two people as involved with the incident: a 34-year-old female victim and a 45-year-old male listed under "others involved."
The report states that a black Taurus semi-automatic handgun was found on the ground next to the man's body.
The 400 block of Ermine Road is located off Augusta Road/U.S. 1 about two miles west of Interstate 26 and the West Columbia city limits.
This is a developing story and will continue to be updated.
