Lexington men charged for possessing, distributing child sexual abuse material

Posted

Two Lexington residents have been arrested on child sexual abuse material charges.

Anthony Vincent Bedenbaugh, 34, and Jason Cooke Boney, 38, were arrested Dec. 21 and Dec. 28, respectively, on four total charges that are connected to the sexual exploitation of a minor, according to a release from the state Attorney General’s Office.

The release states that Bedenbaugh is charged with one count of third degree sexual exploitation of a minor, while Boney is charged with three second degree counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. The release ads that Boney was out on bond from a previous 2022 arrest. The two men’s cases are unrelated to each other.

Each count is a felony offense that could lead to up to 10 years in prison

“Investigators received CyberTipline reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) which led them to both Bedenbaugh and Boney,” the release states. “Investigators state Bedenbaugh possessed child sexual abuse material and Boney distributed files of child sexual abuse material.”

According to the release, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigators and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department made the arrests and were assisted by investigators with the Attorney General's Office.

The Attorney General’s Office will prosecute the cases.

Boney is still in custody at the Lexington County Detention Center, bond having been denied, while Bedenbaugh was released on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond.
