Photos: Lake Murray Polar Plunge

Posted

On Feb. 11, hundreds of people ran into frigid Lake Murray for a good cause.

The Lake Murray Polar Plunge, part of the S.C. Law Enforcement Torch Run Campaign, was held at the Lake Murray Public Park near the Lake Murray Dam, with all funds raised going toward Special Olympics programs in the state.

Many participants came in costume, with awards being given out in that category as well as others. Each plunger was tasked with raising at least $50 each leading up to the event.

Plungers were tasked with reaching a depth marker out in the lake on the chilly day, but many didn’t even make it halfway, running in fast and coming back even faster.
