For the second time in 4 years, a Lexington County school has claimed the Spring Valley Cup.
River Bluff High School defeated Class 5A champion J.L. Mann 2-1 to win the championship Sunday. Nicolle Malpartida accounted for both goals in the win, closing out a tournament run in which the Lady Gators defeated St. Joseph's (1-0), Wando (0-0, 4-3 in PKs) and Dorman (4-1) to win Bracket A and defeated Riverside 4-3 in the semifinal.
The Chapin girls' team also went undefeated in bracket play, defeating Gray Collegiate (4-1), Mauldin (0-0, won on PKs) and Fort Mill (1-1, 4-3 in PKs) to win Bracket C. The Lady Eagles were shut out by J.L. Mann 5-0 in the semifinals.
