The 9th ranked River Bluff boys’ basketball team claimed the 2020 Tipoff at the Dame preseason tournament Wednesday in The Swamp.

The Gators defeated visiting Cross Creek (Ga.) 65-57 to go 3-0 at the event.

Preseason top senior Myles Jenkins scored 22 points to lead River Bluff over the defending Georgia Class 4A champions out of Augusta. Landon Stills also scored in double figures with 14 and Grayson Renner added 12.

The Gators led 28-11 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Razorbacks rallied to within 38-31 at halftime led by Corey Trotter’s 22 points and 13 from Richard Visication.

Cross Creek got within 5 points in the 4th quarter, but free throws by Jenkins helped seal the victory.

"Our kids keep getting better,” River Bluff head coach Benjamin Lee said. “Looking at the upcoming season, we need that trend to continue."

The Gators travel to North Augusta on Tuesday before playing a home-at-home series with archrival Lexington starting Dec. 4 and concluding Dec. 8. The 2 teams will face each other 3 times this season.
