The field is set for the double elimination state American Legion baseball tournament.
Sumter Post 15 and Florence Post 1 finalized the 4-team field Saturday with victories in their deciding games. Post 15 defeated Camden Post 17 by a 6-4 score in Game 5 of the Midlands Region final and Post 1 won 9-6 over Goose Creek/Charleston Post 166 in Game 4 of the Coastal Region final.
The state tournament opens Monday when Florence plays host to Sumter, while Chapin/Newberry Post 193/24 travels to Gaffney Post 109 at 7 p.m.
The tournament then moves to Spirit Communications Park, the home of the Columbia Fireflies. Game times for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Opening ceremonies prior to the first game on Wednesday will feature the South Carolina National Guard supporting the event with a Black Hawk helicopter on display for guided tours and the Colors being presented by the Richland County Sheriff's Department.
On Thursday, Newberry native and former Major League Baseball All-Star Billy O'Dell will join Sumter native, multi-World Series champion with the New York Yankees and former University of South Carolina head coach Bobby Richardson in the pregame ceremony prior to the 7 p.m. game.
The tournament champion and runner-up will advance to the Southeastern Regional in Asheboro, N.C.
