State and county voters overwhelming voted Republican, again. 
Lexington 1 schools will get millions for schools while Lexington 3 won’t. 
In state and local voting:
• Voters chose to leave election of State Superintendent of Education in the hands of voters.
• Republican Gov. Henry McMaster, seeking his first full term, defeated Democrat lawmaker James Smith.
• Republican Alan Wilson of Lexington, seeking his third term as the state’s attorney general, beat Democrat Constance Anastopoulo.
• Republican Secretary of State Mark Hammond beat Democrat Melvin T. Whittenburg.
• Republican State Treasurer Curtis Loftis of West Columbia beat Democrat Rosalyn L. Glenn and Sarah Work of the American Party.
• Republican Superintendent of Education Molly Mitchell Spearman of Saluda beat write-in Democrat Michele Phillips, a Charleston teacher.
• Republican Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers beat out Chris Nelums, United States Citizens Party and David Edmond, Green Party, a native of Batesburg-Leesville.
• Republican Congressman Joe Wilson of Springdale beat Democrat Sean Carrigan of Chapin and West Columbian Sonny Narang.
• In a special election to replace state District 20 Sen. John Courson who pled guilty to misconduct in office, Democrat Dick Harpootlian beat Republican candidate Benjamin Dunn.
Senate District 20 covers the Irmo and 7 Oaks areas.
House races
• District 69 Republican Chris Wooten beat Libertarian David Morris and Democrat and Working Families party candidate Beth Ann Rocheleau, 10,582-425-5,324 votes, respectively.
• District 85 incumbent Republican Chip Huggins beat Democrat Sam Edwards 12,196 votes to 6,270.
• District 87 Republican Paula Rawl Calhoon beat Democrat Diane Summers, a former Lexington 1 board member, 13,614-4,832 votes.
• District 93 Democrat Rep. Russell Ott beat Republican Terry Kiser Sr. in southern Lexington County, 66-34%.
• In District 96, Republican Rep. Kit Spires beat Democrat Robert Vanlue 7,036-2,752 votes.
