Friday — Feb. 2

Live at Loveland (concert)
Loveland Coffee (7475 Carlisle St. in Irmo) hosts its Live at Loveland concert, part of a monthly series. This edition features Brett and Makayla Fenstermaker, Lexington-based worship leaders and musicians, and headlining the evening will be Microfoam, a band made up of Loveland’s own baristas. First Friday Disco Night
O’Hara’s Public House (131 E. Main St.) hosts its First Friday Disco Night. Dance the night away to disco classics courtesy of a live DJ, and you might hear some early Valentine’s Day tunes, as well. NILS (concert)
Chayz Lounge (607 Meeting St. in West Columbia) and guitarist NILS present “The Cool Shades Concert.” Experience a night of jazz, fusion, funk grooves with acclaimed contemporary jazz guitarist NILS, backed by Reggie Graves & Jazz Theory. Expect to hear classic tunes from NILS’ catalog of smooth jazz hits. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., showtime is at 8 p.m. and admission is $35. Dressy attire is required. Free Fridays
Grab the kids and head over to Riverbanks Zoo & Garden (500 Wildlife Pkwy.) for the Free Fridays promotion. Residents of Richland and Lexington Counties receive free daily zoo admission every Friday during the months of January and February with proof of residency. Crown Me Poetry Slam
The Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College (7300 College St.) presents an event for lovers of poetry and spoken word performance. The Crown Me Poetry Slam, organized by poet Chantal W. aka T.L.M (ThelyricalMaze), brings some of the best poets and performers around to the Harbison Theatre stage. Riverstone (concert)

Eugene Genay (concert)
Singer, songwriter and guitarist Eugene Genay performs at the Aiken Community Theatre (126 Newberry Street SW,) on Feb. 2 as part of the theater’s Coffee House concert series. More Than Rhythm (concert)
The Columbia Museum of Art (1515 Main St.) debuts the 2024 edition of the More Than Rhythm concert series on Feb. 2. Join ethnomusicologist and Miami University Distinguished Professor of Music Tammy Kernodle for a trio performance of “She Sings Freedom,” chronicling the journey of Black women as the producers of great music over the last four centuries. Prior to the concert, Kernodle discusses her unique approach and career with series host and fellow ethnomusicologist Birgitta Johnson.
