Friday — Feb. 17

Slim Pickens (concert)

John Lakin (concert)
Join worship leader John Lakin and Friends at the Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College (7300 College St. in Irmo) for an evening of passionate gospel music. Chili Cookoff
The Icehouse Amphitheater (107 W. Main St.) hosts the 2023 Lexington Chili Cookoff, sponsored by the Lexington County Blowfish, Old Mill Brew Pub and the Town of Lexington. There will be live music courtesy of the Freeway Music School and Under the Sun. Your $12 admission ($15 at the door) includes all live music and unlimited chili samples. The cookoff begins at noon. Lake Murray Symphony Orchestra (concert)
Join the Lake Murray Symphony Orchestra at Lakeside Middle School (455 Old Cherokee Rd.) for a special program. The all-volunteer orchestra will perform “Mediterranean Holiday,” a musical tour of the Mediterranean with Italian overtures from Cherubini and Verdi as well as two suites from French composers Saint-Saens and Delibes. My Deceased Valentine

Whether you’re looking for wakeboard boats, pontoons, runabouts, fishing boats, jon boats or other personal watercraft, this is the place to find the boat you’re looking for. A Jazz Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald (concert)
Join local jazz favorites the Noel Freidline Quartet and vocalist Maria Howell at the Columbia Museum of Art (1515 Main St.) on Feb. 17 as they pay tribute to the “First Lady of Song,” Ella Fitzgerald. Expect to hear classics like “A-Tisket, A-Tasket,” “Someone To Watch Over Me,” “Summertime,” “Mack The Knife” and many more. Showtime is 7 p.m., and tickets are $35, $28 for museum members. Jimmy Fortune (concert)
Country artist Jimmy Fortune plays at the Newberry Opera House (1201 McKIbben St.) on Feb. 17. Mardi Gras Columbia
The 13th annual Mardi Gras Columbia festival and parade will be held on Feb. 18 at City Roots Farm (1005 Airport Blvd.).
