Art on State

State St. hosts their annual event “Art on State” starting on Friday, May 10. This free event is the perfect way to celebrate the spring with live music, art, food, and drinks. Local artists will be painting temporary murals on the streets, and there’s live music from Lucky Pocket Band, Civil Remedy, and Liz Carter. There will also be food trucks and beverage stands on site. This event is free to attend and runs from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Visit southeastfestivals.org for more information.

Bluefaith (concert)

Bill’s Music Shop & Pickin’ Parlor (710 Meeting St. in West Columbia) hosts a performance by Bluefaith. The band will play a mix of bluegrass and gospel classics starting at 8 p.m. and running until 9 p.m. Admission is a $10 donation. Visit billsmusicshop.com for more information.

Ron Bosse w/ Jeff Lorber (concert)

Chayz Lounge (607 Meeting St. in West Columbia) and guitarist Ron Bosse present “A Night of Funk Jazz Rhythms.” Grammy-winning keyboardist Jeff Lorber joins Bosse for cuts off their joint album “Burning Room Only,”  and selections from both men’s solo careers. Riverbanks Run

Make tracks to Riverbanks Zoo & Garden (500 Wildlife Pkwy. in Columbia) for a wild 5k race that benefits wildlife conservation. The Riverbanks Run, presented by Dominion Energy, will wind through the park’s scenic back roads, cross the Saluda River, and pass some of the most popular exhibits in the Zoo. The 5K starts promptly at 7:15 a.m., and registration fees are $50 for the general public and $40 for Riverbanks members. Visit riverbanks.org to register.

Strawberry Pick & Play

Grab the kids and head over to Clinton Sease Farm (382 Olde Farm Rd.) for their Strawberry Pick & Play event. Your ticket includes a wagon ride to the strawberry patch, plenty of time to pick your  own berries, a visit with the farm animals, playgrounds, an obstacle course, a jellybean maze and a strawberry activity pack. Steel Paws

Steel Hands Brewing (2350 Foreman St. in Cayce) throws a party for our furry, four-legged best friends. The Steel Paws event. Bring your pups for sessions of K9 therapy and puppy yoga, and enjoy live music, treats from Always Original Bakery and much more. This event runs from noon until 4 p.m. and is free to attend. Lexington Wine Walk

The Icehouse Amphitheatre (107 W. Main St.) hosts the 13th annual Lexington Wine Walk. The Lexington Beautification Foundation invites you to enjoy a stroll down main with some wine for good measure. Attendees receive a souvenir wine glass and can enjoy live music from Going Commando. This event begins at 6 p.m. and admission costs between $30 and $45. Studio Bloom (840 Meeting St. in West Columbia) hosts a “Mom Edition” of their popular Blossom & Brunch event. The Icehouse Live concert series, presented by Lexington Medical Center, rolls on at the Icehouse Amphitheater (107 W. Main St.). Bassmaster Elite Series

If you love fishing or love someone who does, you’ll want to head over to Dreher Island State Park (3677 State Park Rd. in Prosperity) for day 2 of the Bassmaster Elite Series. The fishing competition continues Friday, May 10 through Sunday, May 12, and the public is permitted to observe boat launches in the mornings and weigh-ins in the afternoons. There will also be booths and exhibits from The Gamecock Bass Fishing Team, Realtor-Cat Thornton, Lews/Strike King fishing simulator, South Carolina Wildlife Federation, and many more, along with food trucks from Big Boys BBQ, Cinnamon Hill Kitchen, and Sarah’s Rockin’ Kitchen.
