The most popular drinks at Lexington County coffee shops

Posted

Lexington County residents have an increasing number of places to get their coffee fix.

Since 2019, at least six local coffee shops in Lexington County have opened or expanded. With all that variety, the Chronicle thought it might be helpful to let you know what some of those shops offer.

So we reached out to a few and asked them what their most popular drinks are, receiving answers that varied from a drink called “the Salty Irishman” to a latte featuring vanilla-infused sugars.

Piecewise Coffee Co.

(Cayce – 2001 State St.)

Located along an increasingly bustling stretch of State State street, Piecewise told the Chronicle that its Sweet Cinny Latte is among the year-round favorites of its customers.

The drink enhances espresso and steamed milk with cinnamon, vanilla and caramel.

The latte is $5.80 for a small.

iCrave Cafe

(Batesburg-Leesville – 108 Main St.)

This cafe calls Leesville home and can also be found as a truck vendor. The shop said two crowd favorites are its Caramel Macchiato and Toffee-Nut.

The macchiato, made with espresso that’s roasted weekly, consists of a vanilla-caramel espresso with steamed milk topped with whipped cream and a caramel drizzle.

The Toffee-Nut drink, made with drip coffee or espresso, has butter pecan and hazelnut syrup, a white chocolate drizzle and steamed milk, and is topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle.

The drinks cost $4.25  and $3.85 respectively for a 12 oz. The owner added that these prices are not updated and will be changing.

The Hideout in WeCo

(West Columbia – 118 State St.)

Located on the West Columbia end of the River District/State Street, the shop that opened in 2021 near popular restaurant Cafe Strudel, said its most popular drink is its Snickerdoodle Latte.

The drink features espresso, steamed milk, brown sugar and cinnamon.

It costs $4.60 for the regular size.

The Side Deck Cafe

(Lexington – 5060 Sunset Blvd.)

This gaming cafe is one of two Lexington shops featured on this list. It said its most popular drink is its Caramel Latte.

The simple favorite flavors espresso and milk with homemade caramel.

The drink costs $4.85 for a 16 oz.

O’Hara’s Bakery Cafe

(Lexington – 121 E Main St.)

Almost adjacent to the O’hara’s Public House the bakery opened in 2021 housing brunch foods, pastries, and a variety of coffee and other refreshments.

The bakery on Lexington’s main street said its most popular coffee drink is its Dirty Chai Latte.

Like most, O’Hara’s Dirty Chai features steamed milk, two shots of espresso and a classic chai tea.

The drink costs $4.50 for the regular size.

Tribal Coffee Co.

(Irmo – 7949 Broad River Rd. Suite 8)

Just like Lexington, Irmo has two coffee shops featured. Tribal Coffee, which opened in 2021, has labeled their most popular as the Salty Irishman.

This drink includes a shot of espresso, oat milk, a caramel irish cream and is topped with English toffee cold foam.

The drink costs $4.50 for a 12 oz.

Loveland Coffee

(Irmo – Cafe and Roastery, 7475 Carlisle St.; Drive-Through Kiosk, 7001 St. Andrews Rd.)

Also in Irmo, this coffee shop and roaster recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. It said its crowd favorite is a specialty drink called the Vanilla Dolce.

The Cafe and Roastery opened up in 2020, previously only operating out of their drive through location.

This latte features espresso, steamed milk and a trifecta of raw sugars that are infused with Madagascar vanilla beans.

The drink costs $4.85 for a 12 oz.
