Flu season is in full swing.
Do you know what to watch out for?
Symptoms of the flu include fever, body aches, runny nose, coughing, sore throat and fatigue.
Many other viruses have similar symptoms, including the potentially deadly corona virus.
If you are experiencing these symptoms, make an appointment with your doctor right away.
Here are a few tips to keep you feeling your best:
• Avoid large crowds. This includes birthday parties - if someone has been sick, it’s okay to ask them not to attend for safety measures.
• Carry a bottle of sanitizer around with you all day. Have one in your car, on your desk at work and a travel size in your purse or key chain for times when you aren’t able to wash your hands immediately.
• Make sure you are washing hands with soap for at least 20 seconds.
• Consume Vitamin C, whether by tablet or drinks like orange juice. This will keep your immune system in good standing.
• To build your immunity also, sleep at least 7 1/2 to 9 hours per night.
• Maintain a regular physical activity routine — at least 30 minutes, 3 times a week.
• Disinfect all areas that could have been contaminated. Some viruses can live up to 24 hours on porous surfaces.
• Use a tissue when sneezing or coughing, and wear a mask while around others.
• Eat a healthy, nutrient-rich diet. Limit sugar, junk foods and fatty foods. Instead, eat a variety of fruits and vegetables.
