Irmo suffered a 49-44 loss at the hands of Wade Hampton Tuesday night. The game was played at Irmo.
Irmo outscored the Generals in the first quarter, 14-13, but that was the only quarter, after which, the Yellow Jackets had the lead.
By halftime, Wade Hampton had built a 9-point lead at 25-16. The Yellow Jackets were 0-11 from the field in the 2nd quarter and the lone points came on 2 free throws by Juice Kiett with 19 seconds left.
Irmo got only as close at 4 points in the 3rd and 4th quarter. Wade Hampton held off a fourth quarter Irmo run to advance to the Class 5A Upper State final against 3-time Class 5A defending champion Dorman.
The Cavaliers, led by head coach and Lexington High graduate Thomas Ryan, defeated crosstown rival Spartanburg 67-51.
Wade Hampton's leading scorers wee Nick Brenegan with 12 points and Jack Edwards with 9 points on 3 3-pointers.
Irmo's Kiett had 13 points and Xavier Forest had 9 points for the Jackets.
