MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT PLANNED BY LEXINGTON COUNTY BLOWFISH

Co-owner to discuss 2020 season at 11 am Wednesday

The 2020 Coastal Plain League season will be a major topic of discussion Wednesday by the Lexington County Blowfish.
Team co-owner Bill Shanahan and assistant general manager/director of media Justin Hall have planned an 11 am press conference on the team's Facebook page. He plans to have a "major announcement"  on the upcoming season, slated to begin May 28 at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.
The announcement can be viewed live by clicking on the link - https://www.facebook.com/goblowfish .
Both the Blowfish and CPL have closely monitored the ongoing pandemic. The Blowfish also halted its montly luncheons at the VIP Stadium.
On April 14, the CPL announced a league-wide initiative to help serve healthcare providers with their growing need of face masks during the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Our fans and communities have always been dear to us; and our teams have been working to stay engaged with them through this difficult time," CPL Commissioner Justin Sellers said.  "Right now, the healthcare profession is our first line of defense. We feel that this initiative is a great way for our teams and fans to get involved together and help our local healthcare providers in their time of need."
Through talking with a number of institutions in the area, the league has identified health care providers ranging from clinics and hospitals to assisted living centers across its footprint that are in desperate need of face masks. A list of these institutions can be found at the bottom of this article.
The league and its 15 member franchises are asking any and all fans who are capable and willing to sew masks. More information is available at www.coastalplain.com .
This is scheduled to be the 6th season of Blowfish baseball in Lexington and 1st under new head coach Matt Padgett.
