Stay hydrated in summer to stay healthy

Posted

It’s almost summertime again. Many of us are planning vacations, weekend excursions, sports and league practices, etc. We spend a lot of time outside in summer.
Who doesn’t enjoy a nice, warm day with a beautiful sky and sunshine? But it’s important to stay hydrated.
While we are outside, we may forget to drink water. If you have a busy summer schedule, here are ways to replenish this summer.
• Make watermelon, strawberries, cantaloupe, peaches, oranges, cucumbers, lettuce, zucchini, celery, yogurt, tomatoes, bell peppers, cauliflower, cabbage and grapefruit available to your family.
• Drink skim milk, broth, soups, coconut water, enriched water-like Propel Zero and fruit juices.
• Supplement your water with packets or drops that contain electrolytes, antioxidants and vitamins.
• Add chia seeds to your water. They hold 8-12 times their weight in water which hydrates you and helps with your heart, brain and endurance.
• If you aren’t a huge fan of drinking tons of water at once, sip water every 15-20 minutes to stay replenished. Add lemons or oranges to give water a natural flavor.
