Pelion High School 12th-grader Marcus Dwyer died Sunday.

According to an Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office report, Dwyer, 18, drowned near Carson Landing on the Edisto River in Orangeburg County.

WIS reported a female witness said Dwyer jumped from a bridge on Hwy. 321.

District 1 alerted parents via email Monday that district counselors and school psychologists were at the school that morning to help students and staff deal with the loss and anwer questions.

Dwyer was a 3-sport student athelete, playing football, basketball and track.
