The Dutch Fork soccer team is now a win away from the Class 5A final.
The 10th nationally-ranked Silver Foxes defeated Socastee on the road 4-1 to advance to the Lower State final on Monday.
Dylan Collins assisted on the first goal by Paul Jones 7 minutes into the contest. He then scored 20 minutes later.
Both goals in the 2nd half came off the foot of leading scorer Damon Williams. The Silver Foxes had their playoff scoreless streak end with 2 minutes left in the match on a goal by the Braves' Jahmar Watson.
Standing in the way of Dutch Fork (17-1) making its first-ever state championship game appearance at 7 p.m. on May 11 at Irmo High School is 2-time defending champion Wando. It was the Silver Foxes who defeated the Warriors 2-1 on Feb. 24 at the Capital City Cup, snapping their state-record 58-match winning streak.
Wando 3, Lexington 0
The road-winning run of the Wildcats came to an end Saturday for the Wildcats.
Lexington finishes the season with a 12-13-1 record.
