Photos: Airport High School hosts first Annual Mom’s Clinic

Posted

New Airport High School football coach Shane Fidler brought over one of his favorite traditions to West Columbia last week on July 18. At every one of Fidler’s coaching stops, he has held an annual mom’s clinic where the mothers of the players come by the school to see the football facilities as well as experience what a day in the life of their sons is like when they’re at football practice.

The moms came to the school and watched practice film, hit the weight room and got on the field for a short football game to end the event. Fidler said that in his previous stops, the moms were always hesitant to try it out at first but after the first year, it becomes one of the more popular events his teams have on their calendar every year.

“It usually starts out real reluctant,” Fidler said. “The first year, a lot of parents were reluctant to do it because they don’t know what it is and then by the second year, every mom does it.”
