Four Lexington County Blowfish players were named to the 2023 Coastal Plain League All-Star Game on July 19 in Lexington. The Blowfish players will be representing the West division in the game.

The All-Star Showcase begins on July 18 and the All-Star Game will be July 19 at 7:05 p.m. It’s the second time that the Blowfish have hosted the event.

Ryan Ouzts, a catcher from Presbyterian, is one of two Blowfish infielders to be named to the All-Star team. He has possessed a ton of power this season as he leads the team in home runs with five in 12 games. He also leads the team in RBI with 15.

Shortstop Cooper Blauser from Clemson has also been named to the West All-Star team. Since joining the team, Blauser has made an impact with his glove at second and has been one of the most reliable bats in the lineup. Blauser is currently hitting a blistering .408 in his 14 games and has reached base in 27 of his 49 at-bats.

Blowfish outfielder Dariyan Pendergrass earns an appearance in the All-Star game after being one of the best base stealers in the Coastal Plain League. He’s currently third in the CPL in stolen bags with 19 on the season and has improved his batting average to .316.

The lone Blowfish pitcher in the All-Star Game is Cade Bouknight. Bouknight came into the season as a 10-day contract player and has not only earned himself a spot on the team for the rest of the summer, but has become an All-Star. Bouknight has posted a perfect 3-0 record on the mound and has struck out 15 batters in 17.1 innings of work while possessing an earned run average of only 1.55.

The Blowfish players selected to the All-Star team will play for Forest City Owls coach Connor Dailey. Owls pitcher Jerry Garcia will take the mound to begin the game. Their opponents in the East division will be coached by Morehead City’s Sam Carel. Wilson’s Trent Harris will start on the mound for the East.
