An Irmo High School teacher was arrested July 26, accused of giving a minor between 70 and 80 THC gummies, two THC vape devices and multiple phallus-shaped masturbatory aids, according to provided arrest warrants.

Brianna Nicole Carpenter, 25, is accused of providing the illicit materials to the male minor between Dec. 1, 2022 and July 9, 2023. She is charged with criminal solicitation of a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Arrest warrants state that Carpenter knew the victim to be a minor and provided the masturbatory aids “with the reasonable knowledge that he would then use the items for his own sexual gratification.”

The warrants note that the delinquency charge, which pertains to the drugs, is supported by “statements from the victim, his parents, and electronic communications recovered from the victim’s cell phone,” while the solicitation charge is supported by “statements made by the victim, as well as three masturbatory aids seized by law enforcement from the victim’s room.”

“The victim’s parents found women’s clothing, sexual items and expensive electronics in the victim’s room,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon is quoted in a release. “The victim later admitted a teacher gave it all to them.

“Deputies also found online communication between the minor and Carpenter,” Koon is further quoted.

Reached by the Chronicle, Lexington-Richland School District 5 provided a statement addressing the arrest:

“School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties received notification that a district employee has been arrested. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement in their investigation, and the employee has been placed on administrative leave. Because of the ongoing nature of this criminal investigation, any questions should be directed to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.”

Carpenter was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center following her arrest, where she remained as of about 6 p.m. July 26, according to the jail’s website.
