Lexington County Blowfish don "Hooties" jerseys for one night only

Posted

For one night on June 16, the Lexington County Blowfish became the “Hooties” in honor of Hootie and the Blowfish, the legendary Columbia rock band the team was named after.

The team donned special jerseys with “Hooties” on the front as they faced the Catawba Valley Stars. Hootie and the Blowfish drummer Jim Sonefeld was in attendance and threw out the ceremonial first pitch.

The Hooties fell to the Stars 3-1 in the game despite a solid outing from starting pitcher Josh Topper, who struck out five hitters without surrendering a walk or earned run.

The Blowfish collected only five hits for the entire game — from Dariyan Pendergrass after he got on base and proceeded to steal second and third.
