Lexington Sheriff’s department investigating a shooting that left one person dead.

On Oct. 28 the Sheriff's department posted that they were investigating a shooting near the 200 block of Two Notch Road. According to the Lexington County Coroner's office, the incident left Dustin Chase Edward Northcutt, 32, dead from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

The coroner's office stated that he was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to an incident report, deputies arrived at Northcutt’s location for a welfare check and upon arrival saw Northcutt on the ground seemingly unconscious and not breathing with blood all over him.

The report states that blood was observed all over the parking lot. On the scene they found the victim’s shoes and a shell casing.

According to the incident report, the deputy was able to view camera footage from inside a business that showed Northcutt running from an unknown vehicle before collapsing to the ground.

Northcutt was identified from a hospital bracelet on his wrist.

Detectives are talking to neighbors in the area in an effort to collect statements,” the department posted to Facebook. “Crime scene investigators are gathering potential evidence and photographing the incident location.”

Adam Myrick, public information officer for the department, told the Chronicle that no arrests have been made, nor has the department identified any persons of interest or suspects in the case.
