Lexington High players dominate All-Region teams

Irmo's Brandon Crawford named Region 5-4A Player of the Year

It was a near clean sweep for Lexington High School in the top basketball awards for Region 4-5A.

Top junior prospect Cam Scott was named boys Player of the Year for the second straight year, while West Georgia signee Lindsay Garner shared Co-Player of the Year with Dutch Fork’s Hillary Offing. 

Lexington girls basketball coach Molly Goodrich was named Coach of the Year for the fifth straight year. She has led the Lady Wildcats to five straight region titles and eight overall during her eight seasons. 

Both Lexington teams open the Class 5A Upper State playoffs Feb. 15 at home against J.L. Mann starting at 6 p.m.  

River Bluff boys basketball head coach Ben Lee was named Coach of the Year after leading the Gators to a second-place finish. The Gators will open the Class 5A Lower State playoffs at home Feb. 16 against Berkeley.  

Region 5-4A also released its list with Irmo center Brandon Crawford earning Player of the Year honors. Teammates Madden Collins, Te’Andre Summons and Jonathan White were selected to the All-Region team.

The Yellow Jackets will have homecourt advantage through the first three rounds. They will open Feb. 15 against North Myrtle Beach.
