Posted

A man was arrested July 24 for allegedly calling in bomb threats against police departments in the Upstate municipalities of Greenville, Simpsonville and Fountain Inn from Lexington County.

According to arrest warrants released by the state Law Enforcement Division, Jason Ryan Jones, 37 of Laurens County, was arrested July 24 following statements he made on a recorded line when calling into the SLED Operations Desk between July 15 and 16.

“What do I gotta do to get your attention, I’m going to plant a bomb,” Jones is accused of saying. “I’m going to plant a [expletive] bomb at Fountain Inn Police Department if y’all don’t start doing something about this. If you don’t listen to me, I’m going to plant a bomb in Fountain Inn PD and Simpsonville and Greenville. Greenville, Simpsonville, Fountain Inn ... all of them, you better start [expletive] listening to me.”

The warrants note that Jones provided his name while on the line with SLED.

SLED’s release doesn’t specify what Jones was calling about when he allegedly made the threats.

Court records and the provided arrest warrants list Jones' address as Fountain Inn, but a SLED spokesperson clarified that he is a resident of unincoprorated Laurens County.

The warrants indicate the alleged crimes ocurred in Lexington County.

The SLED release states Jones was booked at the Lexington County Detention Center.

According to county court records, he was released July 27 after posting $1,500 bond, $500 for each of the charges he faces for making a bomb threat.

The 11th Circuit Solicitor's Office, which covers Lexington County, is set to prosecute the case.

This is a developing story and will continue to be updated.
