Shots fired in Cayce Monday left one person dead.

On Dec. 11 around 11 p.m., Cayce Police report responding to Abbott Arms Apartments, located at 2011 Wilkinson St., after receiving a call about shots fired. A release states that one person was shot, with the individual being driven to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The Lexington County Coroner's Office has identified the victim.

"Travis Antwan Fuller Jr., 19, of Columbia, was shot in the upper body and transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead due to his injuries," the office posted to Facebook. "An autopsy has been scheduled for December 13, 2023, at MUSC in Charleston."

According to a provided incident report, the officers who arrived on scene were met with multiple witnesses stating that they heard two men arguing before hearing a large number of shots. A dark-colored vehicle was spotted leaving the scene of the shooting at high speeds.

While on scene, an officer began to look for evidence, finding multiple shell casings along with an SUV suffering a damaged window from gunfire, the report states.

“Officers secured the scene by placing yellow ‘Crime Scene DO NOT ENTER’ tape around the portion of the parking lot and vehicles that were involved or indirectly involved with the incident,” the incident report details. “Officers marked each shell casing with its unique number plaque while waiting for pictures to be taken by investigations. Officers continued to canvas the area to make sure that no one was injured in the area.”

The provided press release adds that investigators are continuing to interview witnesses and are processing the crime scene. The incident report states that the case will be investigated as a homicide due to the victim succumbing to his injuries.

This is a developing story and will continue to be updated.
