Friday — July 28

“Top Gun: Maverick” (movie)
Head to the Icehouse Amphitheater (107 W. Main St.) for a screening of one of the most successful films of all time, “Top Gun: Maverick.” Bring the family and enjoy this instant-classic Tom Cruise movie all over again. Zoe Cummins (concert)
The Nashville Nights summer concert series at Steel Hands Brewing (2350 Foreman St. in Cayce) rolls on with a performance by Zoe Cummins. The Oklahoma-born singer/songwriter now lives in Nashville and her influences range from Bobbie Gentry to John Mayer. Showtime is 6 p.m., and admission is free. Purple Martin Tour
If you’re a nature lover, you’ll enjoy the Purple Martin Tour at Jake’s Landing (220 Jake’s Landing Rd.). This intimate, six-person cruise will allow you to see thousands of purple martins up close and enjoy an evening on Lake Murray. The cruise runs from 6:30 to 9 p.m., and tickets are $50 each. Natalie and the Boys (concert)
Savage Craft Ale Works (430 Center St. in West Columbia) hosts a performance by Columbia’s own Natalie and the Boys. Badcash (concert)

The Market at Icehouse
Icehouse Amphitheater (107 W. Main St.) hosts The Market at Icehouse. The Market is intended as a farmer/grower and local artisans market that uses a community-friendly atmosphere to promote, support and encourage local production, while educating citizens on the benefits of eating local, fresh produce and supporting local artists. “Crackin’ Up” Brunch Comedy Show (standup)
The Hideout (118 State St. in West Columbia) hosts the “Crackin’ Up” Brunch Comedy show. Enjoy a delicious brunch menu while having fun with five different local comedians: Bobbie Gail, headliner Zlatta Cass, Sam Clarke, Dani Valenti, and Gabby. Tuesday — Aug. 1

Toucan Tuesday
Bring the kids to the Riverbanks Zoo & Garden (500 Wildlife Pkwy.) for their Toucan Tuesday night. Guests visiting the zoo will receive buy-one get-one admission to the park and buy-one get-one Icees with a donation of two non-perishable food items. Saluda Young Farmer Summer Pull
The Saluda County Sheriff’s Office (100 Law Enforcement Dr.) presents the Saluda Young Farmer Summer Tractor Pull on July 29. This event showcases the skills and strength of local farmers and their tractors. The event features different classes of tractors, from antique to modified, competing in pulling a heavy sled across a dirt track. Adult day passes are $20, day passes for children ages 6-12 are $10, and children 5 and under get in for free. Coolers and bulk beverages require an extra $5 for admission. Grow Newberry Farmers Market
The Grow Newberry Farmers Market returns to Memorial Park (1207 McKibben St.) on July 29. Guardians Of The Night K9 5K
The Guardians Of The Night K9 5K returns to the State Fairgrounds (1200 Rosewood Dr. in Columbia) on July 29. This event offers a fun, flat, fast-paced race, giving runners the opportunity to run alongside Richland County Sheriff’s Department K9 Deputies and their own K9 partners. This annual event raises funds to pay for the dogs’ food, medical care, safety equipment, collars, leads and custom-fit ballistic vests. The 5K begins at 7 p.m. and signup fees range from $30 to $47. The Market at Richland Library

First Thursday on Main
Head over to the 1300 block of Main Street in Columbia Aug. 3 for the city’s First Thursday event. On the first Thursday of every month, Main Street lights up with live music, art, music, food and drinks. And businesses in downtown Columbia keep their doors open late, offering a mix of specials, events and entertainment (this week centered around performances at Boyd Plaza from Carolina indie rock bands Dear Blanca and Junior Astronomers).
