Brookland-Cayce was able to get close, but lost in the end to Irmo 24-21 at W.C. Hawkins Stadium.
The game was postponed until 10 a.m. Saturday because of lightning in the area Friday night.
The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 7-0 lead at the 7:51 mark in the first quarter. After a fumble recovery Lyndon Johnson, Irmo drove downfield and scored on a touchdown run by quarterback Dylan Williams to go up 14-0 with 9:56 left in the second quarter.
Brookland-Cayce scored in the second quarter on a keeper by quarterback Peyton Whitten. Irmo added a 23-yard field goal by Angel Camarena to take a 17-7 halftime lead.
The two teams exchanged touchdowns in the 2nd half. The Bearcats had a chance at the end after Will Way raced into the end zone from 32 yards out on a screen play from Whitten with 4 minutes left.
However, Irmo managed to run out the clock and even its mark to 2-2 on the season under 1st year head coach Aaron Brand.
Irmo travels to River Bluff next week, while B-C (1-3) will have a bye after the Class 4A school faced 3 Class 5A opponents.
But that was as close as BC got. Final: 24-21 Irmo.
